Cinematic Surprise Proposal & Engagement Photoshoot on Cannon Beach, Oregon

I have been photographing surprise proposals & engagement sessions with my clients for years now and have found myself time and time again capturing these moments at the absolutely stunning (and very touristy) Cannon Beach along the Oregon Coast.

When my client Henry reached out to me regarding the planning of this surprise proposal to his girlfriend, he voiced his concerns about being in an area that would possibly be filled with a ton of onlookers (super understandable!) and he was wanting to keep the same scenic location of Cannon Beach, but was hoping to pop the question in a spot that felt a little more intimate.

We put our brains together, and…that location we fell upon is where we find ourselves here. In a little tucked away corner on Cannon Beach, a ways away from the “normal” location that I’m used to shooting—directly in front of Haystack Rock.

I was so surprised to find that we still had INCREDIBLE rock formations to use as our backdrop, and there wasn’t a single person in sight on this beautifully misty afternoon as Henry dropped to his knee in front of his now fiancee.
